For project 4 I tried to use two subject matters I was really interested in and combine them into one final product. This project was very research based and I spent a-lot of my time figuring out how to piece my project together and synthesize it to the best of my ability. I had to choose very specific information from both cheerleading and physical therapy to configure my final product. For English I choose to create a brochure on how physical therapy is used in cheerleading. The brochure created different elements surrounding the central idea of an injured ankle, which is the most common injury in cheerleading, and how physical therapy helps this. For art I created a diagram of an ankle highlighting the parts of the ankle that are most commonly affected in cheerleading.
The Process
English- For the English part of this project I started with a-lot of research. I wanted to make sure I had enough information to support and connect both physical therapy and cheerleading. I then came up with the idea to make a brochure with all of the research and information inside informing people on the ankle sprain which is the most common in cheerleading. The overall idea of the brochure was to synthesize the idea of how physical therapy in cheerleading and how PT is used as a result of a cheerleading injury.
Art- For the art part of this project I focused mainly on what injury is caused most in cheerleading and how physical therapy helps it. I decided to make a diagram of the ankle to highlight which part of the ankle is most greatly impacted. I Used the 3D printer to print out my diagram and I used the laser printer to cut out different colors to label the ankle. For this project I also wanted to create a video summarizing how cheerleading used different physical therapy in the jumps, stunts, and tumbling.
